General Information:
Coe Percussion offers complete custom built marimbas designed to meet each individual’s needs. Sizes range from Four and One Third (low A) to full Five octave instruments. Instruments can be built to your height requirement or can be height adjustable with our exclusive hydraulic system. We offer both all wood frame construction and also lighter weight metal frames. All tone bars on our concert instruments are hand selected Honduras Rosewood. Bars are “triple tuned” and are of the finest quality. Each bar is painstakingly hand crafted for an extremely smooth surface with rounded edges. Rounded edges and a smooth playing surface prolong the life of the yarn mallets used in playing the instrument. Each bar is carefully selected based upon grain structure of the wood, color, and most importantly ring-time and tone. Bars are finished in multiple coats of polyurethane that does not hinder the resonance of the bar, while at the same time protecting the bar from all of the elements. We take great care in finishing all of our tone bars so they are both beautiful and durable.
Resonator materials can include Brass highly polished to a “mirror” finish or left plain, or Aluminum powder-coated in your choice of ANY color. Materials will be suited to meet your likes/dislikes, needs, and monetary availability. Aluminum resonator models are lighter weight than brass resonator models.
All instruments have available a hydraulic height-adjustable frame. The frame looks nearly identical to the fixed height all wood versions, only hydraulic cylinders are built-in to the endpieces and attach directly to the casters. The instrument is adjusted by the turn of a single hand-crank, for a nearly effortless height adjustment throughout a range of 7 inches.
